Gods Gone Mac

In my last post, I argued for thinking about the Gods in terms of modern images and society. Apparently others are just as willing to modernize the Theoi because an Adam Reeder in the Bay Area is working on a sculpture project depicting the Theoi with various Apple accessories. He has already completed a sculpture of Pan, which looks absolutely fantastic. Cyrus Farivar at Mac World says the following:

What does it mean when figures of the ancient world who have been depicted for millennia, are now given the tools of the 21st century, like iPhones and iPods?

That's one of the questions that Adam Reeder is trying to explore in his "Socio-technic evolution" series.

Reeder has also been featured by Cult of Mac, and his web site shows in-progress versions of the sculptures. I'm not a Mac user, but I think that this is gleefully awesome. If only we had modern temples to house innovative art like this!

A) Annyikha is a royal refugee from the vicinity of Betelgeuse. Many say that she is a collective hallucination, but an independent third party indicates that she is a recent Smith graduate. (Obviously, the exiled Betelgeusian Bradghsol Empire likes to keep people guessing.)

B) Annyikha is a young woman with a BA in English. She practices Hellenic Polytheism, paying special attention to Apollon Musagetes, Hermes Logios, Athene Sophia, and Mnemosyne. Annyikha is definitely a geek, and she writes poetry, prose, constructed languages, and science fantasy.
